Dubai towers vs Abu Dhabi villas
Dubai Marina, JBR, Downtown and JLT: the router is often in the hallway closet. 500 Mbps on the app, 8 Mbps at the TV. An Ethernet adapter or a mesh node in the lounge fixes more “bad IPTV” tickets than a new seller.
Abu Dhabi villas in Khalifa City, Al Reef and on the Corniche are usually happier on Ethernet or 5 GHz. Al Reem and Al Raha towers behave like Marina — treat them as apartments, not villas.
Which device in which lounge
- Locked Samsung from Extra / Sharaf DG → Firestick 4K. Do not chase unofficial Tizen files.
- Google TV Sony/TCL/Hisense → TiviMate from Play Store. No extra box if the store is alive.
- LG OLED in DIFC or on the Corniche → try the TV app first; HDMI stick if the store is empty.
- Already own MAG or Formuler → use the portal guide. Do not factory-reset until we have the MAC.
- Phone in the mall, TV at home → same plan, two connections if both play at once. See the family-limits page.
Etisalat in Abu Dhabi, du in many Dubai flats
Abu Dhabi is often Etisalat fibre. Large parts of Dubai and Sharjah-adjacent buildings are du. We do not ship one profile for both. Name the ISP in the first WhatsApp — the etisalat/du guide explains the radio side.
Most homes never need a VPN. If a route is shaped we switch it the same day.
